News reports detail disturbing sets of events following shooting which has launched a media frenzy about the already disputed sequel.
The DC film faced prolonged development challenges including multiple postponements alongside production refilming events that stemmed mainly from the negative fan reactions toward actress Amber Heard.
After divorcing Johnny Depp Amber Heard had an intense encounter with public criticism for her volatile court cases which led to growing demands throughout social media to erase her character Mera from the film.
Despite public pressure, Warner Bros. ultimately retained her in the sequel, although Heard later claimed her screen time had been “pared down.”
The true camera-set tension was unknown until recently especially concerning the character’s actor Jason Momoa.
Professional documents as well as therapy session records indicate actor Jason Momoa displayed unexpected and unprofessional behavior when he worked on the show during its production period.
The therapist notes from Heard’s counselor Dr. Dawn Hughes in Variety reported that Momoa displayed unprofessional conduct by copying both Depp’s mannerisms and style during production.
“Jason said he wanted me fired,” the notes claim. “Jason drunk — late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too.”
The statements reveal Momoa exhibited similar habits to Depp which seems to have affected Heard because of her previous relationship with the actor.
The allegations received a pushback from DC.
A spokesperson for the studio responded, “Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
One individual close to the production matterously refuted the allegations by disclosing “Jason dedicates himself totally to his work and occasionally enjoys alcoholic beverages like the rest of us, although he never shows for work under the influence.”
His attire during the shoot reflects someone very different from Johnny Depp. He has never changed his outfit because it reflects his bohemian fashion sense.
Through her interviews Heard admitted that director James Wan cut off communication after she failed to do enough marketing of the film and ordered her to stop taking photos with fans on set.
In the same therapy notes, she described the experience as isolating, saying, “He raised his voice at me — ‘I can’t even post about Aquaman’ — made it like it was my fault.”
Reports suggest that Warner Bros considered dropping Heard as Mera from the sequel production.
According to reports, Warner Bros. considered recasting Mera due to a “lack of chemistry” with Momoa, and even notified Heard’s legal team of their intent.
But Elon Musk, Heard’s former partner, reportedly intervened with a “scorched-earth” legal threat to the studio, warning them not to fire her.
The controversy surrounding Amber Heard continued even after the film chose to decrease her role in the story.
These emerging allegations threaten to cancel the hyped blockbuster premiere because they create professional and power-related questions about unresolved studio conflicts.
