She once made global headlines for a decision that left millions speechless.
Now, at age 70, Spanish actress and socialite Ana Obregรณn has resurfaced with a moving update on life with the child she brought into the world using her deceased sonโs sp*rm, fulfilling what she calls his final wish.
Obregรณnโs story first caught fire in 2023, when she revealed she had become a mother at 68 through surrogacy.
What shocked the public even more wasnโt just her age but that the baby was conceived using sp*rm preserved by her late son, Aless Lequio, who tragically died of cancer at just 27.

The child, Anita Sandra, was born in the United States via an egg donor and a surrogate. Obregรณn later clarified that she is biologically the babyโs grandmother, but legally her mother.
โThe girl isnโt my daughter, sheโs my granddaughter,โ Obregรณn stated in an earlier interview with ยกHola! magazine. โShe is Alessโ daughter and when she grows up, Iโll tell her her dad was a hero.โ
That emotional promise hasnโt changed but life at 70 is proving bittersweet for the actress.
In a new television interview, Ana offered an intimate look into her daily life raising little Anita, now two.
โMy house is full of stuffed animals and toys,โ she said. โI even have a little ball pool where she makes me dive in.โ
Yet as joyful as it is, Obregรณn admitted that age is beginning to catch up with her. Lifting the growing toddler is becoming harder.
โIt hurts my backโ
she shared, revealing a physical toll few talk about when discussing late in life parenting.

But for Ana, itโs worth it. Her decision to bring Anita into the world was a deeply personal one, rooted in the unimaginable grief of losing her only child.
Aless, who had been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewingโs sarcoma, had frozen his sp*rm years earlier, something that would eventually allow his mother to honour what she says was his dream of becoming a father.
โI was dead for three years after Aless died,โ Ana told ยกHola! again this year on Anitaโs birthday. โUntil she was bornโฆ life came back to me.โ
The move sparked fierce national debate in Spain, where surrogacy is illegal. While Ana legally adopted Anita in the US, making her the childโs guardian, her actions drew criticism from Spanish politicians.
Equality Minister Irene Montero went so far as to label surrogacy โa form of violence against women,โ a sentiment echoed by other cabinet members.
Still, Ana has stood firm in the face of judgment.
โPeople can judge, but itโs impossible to live without empathy,โ she said. โI was the owner of my pain. Now, I am the owner of my revival.โ
Anita now lives with her grandmother turned mother in Spain, surrounded by love and the legacy of a father she will only know through stories, photos, and her grandmotherโs fierce devotion.

โSheโs just as intelligent as her dad,โ Ana proudly shared. โShe always asks for hugs not for herself, but so I can hug others. Even the plumber.โ
Despite the emotional weight of raising a child born from loss, Ana finds herself inspired by her granddaughterโs presence.
โWith Aless, I went to work feeling confident. But life taught me that one day you have a healthy child and the next, youโre told he has aggressive cancer,โ she said. โNow, every moment is sacred. Life is a breath of fresh air.โ
As Spain continues to debate the ethics surrounding her journey, Ana Obregรณn remains focused on one thing, being there for the little girl who brought her back to life.
