Marvel has once again found itself in the middle of a firestorm, as outraged fans flood social media over the latest twist in one of its most iconic superhero stories. This time, the controversy stems from a new comic that seems to dramatically alter the legacy of Black Panther in a way that many believe crosses a line.
At the center of the outrage is the newest issue of Marvel Knights The World To Come, a storyline that explores the next chapter in Wakandaโs royal legacy.
The plot introduces a new character named Ketema, a figure who is meant to carry forward the Black Panther mantle.

Things take a sharp turn when Ketema is revealed to be the biological son of TโChalla, the original Black Panther, whose role was famously portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to the comic, Ketema is born from a past relationship between TโChalla and his early love interest, Monica Lynne.

Initially, this new direction appears to honor the lineage of the hero. But as the story progresses, Ketema challenges his father for the throne of Wakanda. After defeating TโChalla in battle, he unmasks himself, and this is where readers were left in disbelief.
Ketema is shown to have blonde hair, blue eyes, and distinctly white features, a visual reveal that has sparked widespread fury across the Marvel fanbase.

โWe ainโt watching no white man play Black Panther,โ one fan posted angrily, while another wrote, โLife is a h*r movie in 2025.โ**
The reveal has been branded by many as โwhitewashingโ a beloved Black superhero, especially one that has stood as a symbol of cultural pride and representation since his creation. Social media exploded with furious reactions, calling the move โins*โ** and โunth*able.โ**

Fans also pointed out that Ketema bears a striking resemblance to actor Ryan Gosling, with some even joking or speculating that he might be cast in the role.
โWhat if Ryan Gosling is coming into Marvel to play the Black Panther after all?โ asked one user, stirring even more concern and confusion.
Others questioned the creative decisions behind the comic, suggesting that such a plot could only come from writers lacking cultural sensitivity.

One person posted, โStop letting non-Black people touch Black Panther. They do s** stuff like this.โ** However, this assumption was quickly corrected.
The new series was written by Christopher Priest, who is widely respected as the first Black writer editor in mainstream comics.
Priest co-created the series with Joe Quesada, Richard Isanove, and Richard Starkings. His past work on Black Panther has earned high praise, but this new direction has left fans divided and confused.

Many readers are now questioning whether Monica Lynne could truly be Ketemaโs mother, as his appearance doesnโt match her background. Some have gone so far as to revisit older comics, searching for alternative explanations or possible plot twists.
As of now, Marvel has not responded to the backlash. The studio has remained silent, perhaps allowing the storyline to play out before commenting publicly. Still, the outrage continues to mount.

For many fans, this is not just a narrative choice. It is a move that threatens the cultural legacy built by one of Marvelโs most powerful and beloved characters.
Whether Marvel will address the concerns or double down on this bold twist remains to be seen. But one thing is certain, fans are not staying quiet.
