Dan Sur, a Spanish rapper, has been making waves for over three years now, not just because of his music but also because of his daring and radical style.
The rapper is known for his aggressive social media presence, particularly on TikTok, and his latest change is one few would ever think about attempting.
With nearly two million TikTok followers, Dan Sur first unveiled a stunning transformation in his appearance in 2021. Instead of the customary colorful hair and tattoos, he chose something far more unique and controversial.
In a viral video, he claimed that his hair was replaced with gold chains. But these weren’t just any chains; they were surgically implanted into his scalp, a decision that has sparked controversy ever since.
“I have it as a hook that is implanted in my head and that hook has hooks, and they are all hooked in my skull, under my skin,” said the artist.
He proudly calls this his “golden hair” and claims to be the first rapper in history to undergo such a treatment.
To silence critics who questioned the validity of his new look, Dan Sur returned to TikTok. In a video, he demonstrated that his chains do not float in water, rejecting claims that they are made of plastic.
While some admirers were intrigued by his unusual manner, medical professionals swiftly expressed concerns about the potential health dangers associated with this extreme change.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Agullo was one of the first to speak out. He said, “Implants like this are not safe.
They introduce an easy path for bacteria between the outside world and the internal body. In this case, the bone covering the brain.โ
Agullo also raised alarm over the sheer weight of the gold chains, saying that any unintentional tug could cause the hooks to dislodge, perhaps leading to skull fractures.
This additional weight raises the dangers much beyond those associated with a standard cosmetic operation.
Dermatologist Dr. Mona Gohara issued similar cautions. She stated that Dan Sur may get irreversible hair loss as a result of scarring and inflammation.
โOne may even experience permanent hair loss from damage to the follicle,โ Gohara explained, encouraging caution for anybody thinking about following this extreme trend.
Despite these strong warnings from health authorities, Dan Sur continues to wear his chain-adorned head. He has even changed his style several times, swapping out gold chains for silver or multicolored ones to match his clothing.
Despite his claims that he can remove the chains while sleeping, both experts advise against any type of implanted accessory. They highlight that this surgery carries serious long-term health concerns.
Dr. Agullo strongly advised others to avoid similar operations, stating, “I would strongly discourage anyone [from undergoing this procedure], for all the risks and complications involved.”
As beautiful as Dan Sur’s golden hair is, the true problem lies under the surface. With warnings about infections, probable skull fractures, and irreversible hair loss, this is one fad best avoided.
The rapper may have made a big statement, but it comes with serious consequences that should not be taken lightly.
