The girlfriend of British influencer Lewis Stevenson has expressed her heartfelt sorrow following his terrible fall from one of Spain’s tallest bridges. The 26-year-old explorer was well-known for his daring rooftop adventures and for challenging the rules.
However, his latest challenge proved fatal.
Lewis Stevenson was climbing the Castilla-La Mancha bridge in Talavera de la Reina, southwest of Madrid, on Sunday, October 13. What could have been another spectacular ascent turned tragic when Stevenson lost his grip and plunged.
The high bridge, which reaches at 630 feet (192 meters), is a magnet for thrill seekers. Despite its attractiveness, climbing the building is legally forbidden.
Savannah Parker, Stevenson’s girlfriend, has talked up about the heartbreaking days following his death. In a touching post, she described her horror after hearing the tragic news.
She explained that she hasn’t slept or eaten since. “It’s 5 a.m., and I haven’t eaten or slept. Someone tell me this is a nightmare,” she wrote.
โI feel violently sick at the fact youโre not coming back. Please come back. Answer the phone.โ
Savannah said that their final chat took place only hours before the catastrophe. Her last message to Stevenson stated, “Good night, I love you.”
In a devastating twist, she suspects her partner may have passed out while climbing.
โHe didnโt just fall. He lost consciousness because he wasnโt feeling well,โ she explained.
According to Savannah, Stevenson’s climbing companion, Lewis felt sick during the ascent. His companion urged that they turn back.
Lewis reportedly said, “Give me a minute,” before losing consciousness and falling.
Stevenson’s family has long been concerned about his risky actions. His grandfather, Clifford Stevenson, admitted that they had frequently tried to convince him not to engage in such unsafe activities.
โWe all tried to talk him out of it, but that was the way he was,โ Clifford added.
โHe loved doing it, always went out there believing heโd be alright. He did it for his own pleasure. He didnโt get any money for itโhe was an adventurer.โ
Friends and fellow climbers have paid tribute to Stevenson, describing him as bold and generous.
One close friend wrote, โYou will always be the bravest, most caring, and funniest person Iโve ever known. My best friend, my brother. Rest easy, weโll meet again one day.โ
Spanish authorities are still examining the cause of the disaster. Bad weather is being examined as a possible issue.
Local officials have repeated that climbing the bridge is “totally banned,” a rule that Stevenson tragically violated.
The young influencer’s death has shocked the daredevil community.
Savannah Parker, now shattered, must confront an inconceivable realityโone for which no farewell text could have prepared her.
