Snoop Dogg, a famed rapper and cannabis fan, has created a whole personality around his love of marijuana. With a career spanning decades, he has not only solidified his place in music history but has also been associated with marijuana culture.
In reality, Snoop’s reputation for outlasting practically everyone in a smoking session is widely known. His standing as a cannabis icon is so well-known that the thought of someone topping his famous smoking powers seemed practically impossible.
But even the greatest legends have boundaries. While Snoop has openly embraced his cannabis habit, there has long been talk that no one could ever match him in a smoking session.
Snoop gave fans an unexpected insight into this question when he appeared on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ in 2018. During the conversation, Snoop was asked to design a “Mount Rushmore” of pot smokers, including the most well-known figures in cannabis culture.
As expected, Snoop easily came up with a few iconic names. “I would put Bob Marley. I would put Cheech and Chongโthey were the first faces on the mountain. They’re the ones who showed us what a mountain was,” Snoop explained, paying tribute to the pioneers of cannabis culture.
However, Snoop reserved one name for last, and it would surprise even his strongest followers. After a minute of thought, Snoop announced the final name for his Mount Rushmore of cannabis smokers, leaving spectators in awe.
“Willie P. Nelson is definitely on there,” Snoop continued, before revealing the true surprise. “And by the way, Willie Nelson is the only person who has ever out-smoked Snoop Dogg.”
This revelation was absolutely startling. Snoop Dogg, who has spent decades at the very top of the cannabis industry, said that Nelson tested him to his limits.
Snoop went on to say that during their legendary smoke session, he had to do something he’d never done before. “I had to hit the ‘timeout’ button,” Snoop said with a giggle, acknowledging Nelson had genuinely out-smoked him.
But what actually led to this situation? The narrative of their epic smoke-off takes place in Amsterdam, a city famous for cannabis culture.
During an interview with ”The Daily Beast”, Willie Nelson corroborated the story. “I called Snoop and I said, ‘Hey buddy, you gotta come over here. This is where itโs at!'” Nelson remembered, inviting Snoop to join him in one of the world’s weed hotspots.
The two artists then spent their time in Amsterdam exploring every pub and smoking spot they could locate. “We had a helluva time,” Nelson added, describing the experience as one neither of them would soon forget.
Though Willie Nelson, now 91, has cut back on smoking and switched to a vaporizer to protect his lungs, the famed smoke-off remains the only time Snoop Dogg has ever been out-smoked.
In a world where Snoop Dogg is revered in the cannabis community, Willie Nelson is the only person to have ever out-smoked the Doggfather himself. That is a label Snoop readily accepts.
