Jennifer Lopez’s return to the spotlight took a surprising turn when her interaction with fans at a recent autograph signing became unexpectedly tense.
Lopez, currently promoting her new movie “Unstoppable,” attended a special screening and Q&A session at AFI Fest 2024 in Los Angeles.
The event, held at the TCL Chinese Theatre, drew a large crowd eager to meet the “On the Floor” singer, who graciously stopped to sign autographs as she exited the theater.
Fans lined up to catch a moment with Lopez, who had been warmly interacting with her admirers, signing posters, and smiling for photos.
The excitement, however, quickly shifted as a fan decided to address a sensitive subject—her past relationship with rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently facing serious legal charges.
The question referenced Diddy’s recent arrest on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and other federal offenses, a subject that has been making headlines for weeks.
In a widely circulated video, Lopez can be seen pausing as a fan calls out, “J-Lo, do you have any comments about Diddy and the allegations?”
The inquiry struck a nerve, and Lopez’s autograph session came to an abrupt halt, catching fans by surprise and leaving a moment of silence in the air.
Reports from “MailOnline” and “The Mirror” reveal that Lopez appeared visibly upset as she processed the question.
She paused for a moment, seeming momentarily irritated, before deciding to walk away with her security team at her side.
Fans nearby pleaded with her to continue signing, but Lopez left without responding, her expression making it clear she had no intention of addressing her past with Diddy.
This incident has drawn fresh attention to Lopez’s previous relationship with Combs, a high-profile romance that dates back to 1999.
Their time together was famously volatile, marked by intense moments and challenges that included an arrest following a nightclub shooting incident in 1999.
The charges were eventually dropped, but the episode left a lasting impact on their relationship, which ended shortly after in 2001.
Reflecting on that tumultuous period, Lopez once shared with Us Weekly, “I was in this relationship with Puff where I was totally crying, crazy, and going nuts.”
She later revealed to “Vibe” that she suspected Combs of infidelity, though she never caught him in the act, adding that the relationship had left her “emotionally exhausted.”
Adding further tension, Lopez’s ex-husband, Ojani Noa, recently commented on Diddy’s influence during their marriage, claiming it contributed to their separation.
In an interview on “Despierta América,” Noa recalled that distance and “deception” stemming from Lopez’s involvement with Combs impacted their relationship.
He expressed frustration at feeling left out as Lopez allegedly kept him away from the spotlight while her music career was rising.
The renewed scrutiny surrounding Diddy, who remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn pending his trial, has brought past associations back into public discussion.
However, for Lopez, the time has long passed, and she appeared unwilling to revisit it publicly.
Her swift exit from the autograph signing underscored her decision to leave the past where it belongs—untouched and unaddressed.
