Ian Watkins, once the frontman of the Welsh rock band Lostprophets, has died following a viol*nt altercation at HM Prison Wakefield in northern England.
The 48-year-old was pronounced de*d at the scene after prison staff raised alarm over an ass*ult.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed that the incident began at 9:39 a.m. when officers were called to reports of a serious ass*ult on a prisoner.

Emergency crews arrived but Watkins passed away shortly after.
Two inmates, aged 25 and 43, have now been arrested on suspicion of murd*r.
Their cases have been transferred to a higher court, and hearings are underway.
Watkins had been serving a long sentence for a string of child se* offences, dating back to late 2012 and culminating in a 2013 conviction.
In court, a judge described his crimes as plunging into “new depths of depravity.”

He had previously survived a vi*lent incident in 2023, when he was held hostage and st*bbed by fellow inmates over several hours.
Despite that, security experts had warned about his vulnerability in Wakefield Prison.
While his notoriety has long overshadowed his music career, attention is now turning back to a cryptic final message he posted just before his arrest. On December 16, 2012, his Twitter account shared the line:
“Well……that escalated pretty quickly……I do apologize….”
That message, only days before his downfall, has resurfaced across news outlets as haunting in hindsight. Some believe it hinted at pressures mounting behind the scenes. Others see it as an eerie foreshadowing.
More recently, his Twitter account reportedly sprang back to life in 2016 with links to music on SoundCloud, though authorities claimed Watkins had no phone access at the time.
In 2018, he was caught in possession of a mobile device and received an extra ten months in prison.
Given his crimes, Watkins had become a marked man in prison. Officials have declined to comment further until investigations conclude.
Now, with suspects charged and inquiries ongoing, the chilling final tweet stands out as a stark reminder of how rapidly everything unraveled for a rockstar turned convicted pred*tor and the tr*gic end that came in a cell.
