Jimmy Fallon Breaks Silence on Jimmy Kimmel’s Suspension After Charlie Kirk Remarks

During an episode that aired on Monday (September 15), Kimmel joked about Trump’s ‘grief’ over Kirk’s passing, as well as the discussion around Robinson’s political alignment.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murd*red Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.” he said.

“On Friday, the White House flew the flags at half staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this.”

Jimmy Fallon broke his silence Thursday night on The Tonight Show, responding to ABC’s decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live! following remarks Kimmel made about the de*th of Charlie Kirk.

Fallon opened with humor, admitting confusion over the suspension. He revealed that his own father mistakenly thought Fallon’s show had been canceled.

Fallon said:

“That’s not me! That’s Jimmy Kimmel! To be honest with you all, I don’t know what’s going on, and no one does. But I do know Jimmy Kimmel, and he is a decent, funny, and loving guy. And I hope he comes back.”

In his September 15 monologue, Kimmel criticized conservatives for trying to distance themselves from the alleged kill*r of Charlie Kirk. He accused MAGA figures of using the trag*dy to score political points.

Former long-time late-night host David Letterman also called Kimmel’s suspension ‘ridiculous’.

Speaking during an appearance at The Atlantic Festival in New York on Thursday, the 78-year-old said: “I feel bad about this, because we all see where see this is going, correct?

Sinclair Broadcast Group demanded Kimmel issue a direct apology to Charlie Kirk’s family and make donations before agreeing to air the show again.

Amid criticism, Fallon’s measured defense stood out. He neither condemned nor excused Kimmel’s remarks outright, but made clear his respect for a peer under fire.

The biggest revelation wasn’t just that Jimmy Kimmel Live! was taken off air, but how Fallon used his platform to ask questions many viewers are asking: Who decides when political speech crosses a line? And what responsibility do networks have when the pressure comes from both sides?
