Strictly Come Dancing has never been short on dramatic moments, but recent occurrences have sent social media into a frenzy. Professional dancer Katya Jones and her celebrity partner, Wynne Evans, received attention after an unexpected moment during Saturday night’s live event went viral.

The couple, known for their lively routines and outstanding teamwork, unexpectedly became the focus of attention.

During a live segment, Evans appeared to slide his hand around Jones’ waist as anchor Claudia Winkleman announced the start of voting lines.

Jones appeared to push his hand away in the brief video, which instantly went viral on social media. Viewers began to wonder if the conversation made her uncomfortable, resulting in a flurry of comments online.

With social media buzzing, some expressed concerns over Evans’ activities, implying inappropriate behavior.

The assumption only grew after a second video surfaced showing Evans attempting to high-five Jones, who appeared to ignore him.

As the videos gained popularity, many online users questioned whether something deeper was going on between the two. The situation escalated as spectators questioned the nature of their interactions.

In the midst of the mounting uproar, Jones and Evans took to social media to clarify the situation.

Evans, most known for his involvement in the GoCompare commercials, wrote a post stating, “We were just messing around. We really are amazing friends.โ€

He further emphasized that the high-five incident was part of a long-standing joke between them. Despite this, many people remained skeptical, prompting Katya Jones to respond in greater detail.

Jones described the reaction in an Instagram video to her 245,000 followers as “complete nonsense” and “absurd.”

She explained that the alleged “hand incident” was actually an inside joke between her and Evans.

“The hand incident that happened on Saturday night was a very silly inside joke between Wynne and me,” she said. “The idea that it made me uncomfortable or offended in any way is complete nonsense.”

Despite their efforts to clarify the situation, the incident continued to gain notice online. However, a source close to the program verified that the Strictly welfare team contacted both Jones and Evans.

No additional action was required because neither participant indicated concern about the exchange.

The two remained undeterred by the online turmoil and concentrated on their next performance.

After giving their highest score of the series a tango to ABBA’s Money, Money, Money that garnered them 34 pointsโ€”they appeared poised to go on.

Jones concluded her statement by inviting viewers to focus on Evans’ improvement as a dancer. “Can we just focus on how brilliantly he’s doing and what an amazing dancer he’s becoming?” she stated.

As the competition proceeds, Jones and Evans will return to the dance floor, leaving the viral moment behind. Finally, they convey a clear message: the true story is about the dance, not the drama.
