Truth behind Kenyan Man Claiming to Be Elon Musk’s Firstborn and Demanding DNA Test

Written by: Mahnoor

A social media storm has erupted after a man from Kenya made a surprising claim linking himself to one of the world’s most recognizable billionaires. The story quickly caught the internet’s attention, sparking debates, memes, and plenty of disbelief.

But as the story spread, skeptics began tearing it apart. Internet sleuths zoomed into his photos and spotted suspicious details. One viewer remarked, “This is AI, look at the top button on the guy’s shirt. There is no hole for the button.” Others highlighted his corporate-style backdrop and almost identical beard, calling the image artificially generated.

The attention was fueled further when the claim was widely shared by African Hub on X, racking up millions of views in just days. Soon after, aggregation pages across Instagram and Facebook picked it up, sending the story far beyond Kenya and into global headlines.

The man, identified as Nyakundi Kibiru, describes himself as a “mental health activist.” He alleged in an interview that his mother once met Elon Musk while working at a hotel in Kenya’s Masai Mara in the early 1990s. According to him, the encounter resulted in his birth, and he is now demanding a DNA test to prove the connection.

Photos of Kibiru went viral, with many online users convinced the resemblance was uncanny. Comments poured in with people saying things like, “He really look just like him” and others calling him the “spitting image” of Musk. For some, the jawline and facial features were simply too similar to ignore.

Yet the story began to unravel when the timeline was checked. If Kibiru is 40 years old, his birth year would be around 1985. Musk, born in 1971, would have been only 14 years old at the time. The math alone casts serious doubt on the claim, as Musk would have been a teenager in school, not a 20-year-old visiting Kenya.

There’s also a legal layer to the issue. Kenya’s law sets the age of consent at 18. If the alleged encounter had taken place under the timeline suggested, it would imply criminal wrongdoing. Instead of proving his case, Kibiru’s claim inadvertently raises troubling implications about the story.

Fuel was added to the fire when Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok, was briefly suspended from X around the same time the photos went viral. Some speculated the viral image may have been created with AI tools, though there is no evidence linking Grok directly to Kibiru’s photo.

What remains certain is that Musk has publicly acknowledged 14 children, none of whom are connected to Kenya. No legal documents, family records, or statements from Musk’s team have surfaced to support Kibiru’s demand for a DNA test.

The saga has left the internet divided between believers, skeptics, and meme-makers. Whether this is a case of mistaken identity, an AI hoax, or a man chasing viral fame, the evidence points in one direction. For now, Musk’s official child count remains unchanged, and the mystery of his so-called Kenyan son is more fiction than fact.
