Marlon Wayans has criticized Elon Musk for his treatment of his transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson.
Wayans expressed his views during an open discussion on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast with Shannon Sharpe.
The actor and comedian from Hollywood took to the platform to express his displeasure regarding Musk’s remarks about his daughter.
His comments ignited a broader discussion regarding the ways in which parents navigate their children’s transitions.
Wayans has consistently shown his support for the LGBTQ+ community, but this time he specifically targeted Musk with his criticism. Wayans, who is a parent to a transgender child, voiced strong criticism of Muskโs remarks.
Musk and his daughter Vivian have experienced a rift since her transition in 2022. Vivian, who was born in 2004, decided to legally change her name and cut off connections with her father soon after revealing her true self.
In court documents, she expressed her desire to sever all ties with Musk “in any way, shape, or form.”
This personal divide has now turned into a matter of public discussion, particularly following Musk’s latest interviews.
During a July 2023 conversation with Jordan Peterson, known for his conspiracy theories, Musk shared some contentious assertions.
He conveyed regret for approving the paperwork that facilitated his daughter’s transition and consistently referred to her with incorrect pronouns throughout the discussion.
Musk claimed that the woke mind virus had “killed” his daughter, a claim that sparked significant backlash.
He further implied that her transition was not entirely voluntary, but rather shaped by external influences.
Wayans reacted to these comments, expressing his disapproval of Muskโs handling of the situation. “You donโt treat them babies like that,” Wayans said passionately. “You donโt disown your baby. Adore your little one!
Wayans faced various challenges on his journey with his transgender son, Kai. When Kai revealed his truth, he acknowledged that he faced his own challenges.
“I went through the five stages of grief,” Wayans shared during the podcast. He reported that he achieved a sense of acceptance in only a week.
It felt like forever,” he admitted, noting the emotional journey many parents face. “Itโs still my child, man. “Thatโs my baby,” Wayans stressed.
He talked about how some parents need years, or perhaps a lifetime, to get to that understanding.
Wayans conveyed a sense of sorrow for individuals who fail to discover that “magical place” of acceptance.
The difference between Wayansโ approach and Muskโs public stance is strikingly clear. Musk’s ongoing public critiques of his daughter have only intensified the rift between them.
Vivian has taken a stand and voiced her opposition to her father. She claims that Musk was mostly uninvolved and indifferent to her emotions during her upbringing.
She alleged that Musk often made remarks about her “high voice.” Musk has humorously commented on their separation, remarking, “You canโt win them all.”
During a 2022 conversation with “The Financial Times”, Musk suggested that their relationship was falling apart.
Nonetheless, his latest remarks in the conversation with Jordan Peterson adopted a more harsh tone.
Many were in disbelief when Musk claimed that progressive ideologies had “killed” his daughter. Vivian reacted by calling out her father’s remarks as “entirely fake” and referring to him as a “serial adulterer.”
Wayans was unreserved in his reaction to Muskโs remarks. “I donโt like what he be saying about his trans child, that made me mad,” he said, frustrated by Muskโs handling of the situation.
Wayans, reflecting on his personal journey, opened up about his experiences, especially in light of his son Kai’s recent transition. He recognized the challenges he faced in coming to terms with Kaiโs transition initially.
“It was hard on me because I felt like I was the last to know,” Wayans admitted. Despite his first reaction of shock, he quickly adjusted his attitude and began to wholeheartedly support his kid.
Wayans shared his pride in the swift acceptance of Kaiโs identity, noting that it took him just a week. He noted that for numerous parents, it requires a significantly extended period to accept their child’s transition.
“Iโm sad to say some parents and some family members will never get to that magical place that Iโm at,” Wayans said. “But it’s still my child, and that’s my baby,” he repeated.
Musk, a father of 11, has openly discussed the challenges in his relationship with Vivian. His claims that he “tricked” Vivian into transitioning have provoked significant backlash.
Numerous individuals have highlighted the potential negative impact his remarks may have on the transgender community. Wayans expressed his frustration over Musk’s choice to expose their private family issues to the public eye.
On the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Wayans humorously suggested that he could drive his Tesla off a cliff. Although he intended it as a joke, it exposed his annoyance towards Musk’s comments about his daughter.
Vivian, in contrast, has repeatedly voiced her opposition to her father. She has confronted Musk multiple times, most recently branding him a “heinous incel.”
Wayansโ remarks regarding Musk have struck a chord with numerous individuals, especially among the LGBTQ+ community. His message to parents encountering comparable difficulties was unmistakable: love your children without conditions.
“As hard as it was, itโs important to reach acceptance,” Wayans said. He urged parents to fully support their children, no matter the challenges they may face.
The latest developments suggest that Musk and Vivian’s divide will continue for the foreseeable future. Both parties have stood their ground, showing minimal signs of coming together
Wayans nonetheless persists in leveraging his platform to promote acceptance and understanding. His words highlight the crucial role of unwavering love, particularly for parents of transgender children.
For Wayans, it extends beyond his personal journey with his son. He urges all parents facing challenges with their child’s transition to take action.
“You donโt disown your baby,” Wayans said, taking up his stance. “You love your child.
