MTV Canceled Ridiculousness Show

‘Ridiculousness’ Canceled: MTV Ends Its Longest-Running Show

For more than a decade, MTV’s late-night lineup was ruled by a show that made audiences laugh at viral fails and outrageous stunts. It became a comfort watch for millions but that era has now quietly come to an end.

Sources confirmed that MTV has officially canceled Ridiculousness after 14 years on air. The decision was communicated to the cast and crew this week, marking the conclusion of one of the network’s longest-running programs.

The show first premiered in 2011 and quickly grew into a network powerhouse. Hosted by Rob Dyrdek, alongside Steelo Brim and Chanel West Coast, the series aired more than 900 episodes, becoming MTV’s most frequently broadcast show.

Fans noticed the show went on hiatus earlier this year, with many expecting it to return in January. However, insiders told that while previously produced episodes will continue to air through 2026, no new original episodes will be made.

MTV confirmed that it is planning a broader creative overhaul. “The company is working to reimagine MTV for the future,” one insider shared, adding that the network will focus on “fresh formats, different creative voices, and refreshed programming.”

The timing of the cancellation follows the Paramount–Skydance merger, which led to sweeping layoffs across the entertainment giant.

Industry experts say the decision aligns with Paramount’s strategy to streamline operations and shift resources toward streaming platforms like Paramount+.

Despite the cancellation, fans will still see Ridiculousness across TV and streaming. Past seasons will remain on MTV’s schedule, and select seasons will continue to stream on Paramount+, ensuring that its legacy lives on.

Chanel West Coast, who co-hosted from the show’s beginning, departed in 2023 after 30 seasons. Dyrdek and Brim carried the final seasons with guest hosts and new segments, a last effort to keep the format fresh.

As the laughter fades, Ridiculousness leaves behind an undeniable cultural footprint. What began as a simple viral-clip show became the heartbeat of MTV’s programming for over a decade.

After 14 years, thousands of clips, and countless laughs, MTV’s longest-running comedy has reached its final act, closing a chapter that defined an entire era of cable entertainment.
